Maths Progression

St Francis Bazaar
Thank you to all the parents for your support in the bazaar. The products made were very high standard and sold out very quickly. Congratulations to the students for their excellent performance.

Activities over the Holiday

Please note that as of today (Tuesday, 13th December) no more reading books will be sent home. However, we would like to invite you to continue encouraging children to read over the holidays.

Attached is a log for your child to keep track of the pages they read over the holidays. They can read any sort of book in any language, including Raz Kids books online, the important thing is that they read as much as possible! When they return to school teachers will discuss what they’ve read and we have a couple simple prizes for those who read as much as possible!

Flat Stanley

For your holidays we will provide pupils with a flat Stanley cutout. Please take flat Stanley with you on your travels and record details through photos and videos of his adventures. When you come back we can use this for display and show and tell activities.

Maths

Term 1 was a great success in terms of aligning with the British National Curriculum in Mathematics. A progression of topics were covered and revisited via the 100 Maths Lessons. Moving into Term 2 we will continue building on that success, moving forward in a logical and enriching way.

Please check some photos from inside the classroom:

Giant Biome maps and Biome Research

In PYP 6 we have been investigating biomes. Students used their research skills to investigate the differences in climate, vegetation, animals and location between biomes. Students also improved their geographical skills by using atlases to identify the specific location of biomes on a world map. Students then used their knowledge to create a giant biome map of their own.

PYP6 Sigma creating a world biome map

PYP6 Beta researching into different biomes

We would also like to thank parents for their support in creating items for the Holiday Bazaar. The items made look very professional. We look forward to seeing you all there at the Holiday Bazaar this Saturday the 10th of December.
