Unit Reflection

Sitio do Sol

Trip to visit the indigenous people of Sitio do Sol

For our unit 'Stories and traditions can communicate the values and beliefs of one's culture', we visited the indigenous people Sitio do Sol. The visit also served as an introduction to our next unit 'In a sustainable ecosystem all the elements are balanced'.
Here we had the opportunity to integrate with indigenous people and learn about their culture and relationship with nature. Students listened to the chief explain the history of his people and describe their way of life. Students had the opportunity to eat traditional food, play indigenous games, go hiking, learn some of the Tupi Guarani language, shoot bow and arrows and learn about natural medicines . It was an extremely worthwhile and fascinating experience.
