Theater Performance

Theatre Trip Grupo Folias D´Arte

On Wednesday all pupils from PYP 6 AND 7 went to the theatre to see Grupo Folias D'Arte, who have been working as a company for more than 30 years. We had a chance to visit their space and experience being part of a theatre experience. The play was set as a game where audience chose characters for each of the 13 actors. The story of Chiquita Bacana, a girl, who challenges the rules of the King Leonino and gets all members of the kingdom to do the same. All becomes doubtful. It's an exercise for citizenship.At the end of the play, children got to chose the end of the story. Some suggested impeachment, others wanted to give the king a second chance...

Its time to swim! And other news from the classroom!

It`s that time of year again when the PYP 6 students in Jd Europa get to get wet! Swimming has begun and students are learning and improving their skills as well as enjoying a break from the heat. This year students will learn the front crawl and backstroke over a distance of 25m. As well as correct the movements (arms, legs and breathing), and work in general coordination.

Although PYP 6 Beta does not have a pool too cool off in, they sure had some cool Forms of Energy presentations! Students investigated Chemical energy, Nuclear energy, Gravitational potential energy, Electrical energy, Radiant energy, Thermal energy, Motion energy and Sound energy. Not only did they present their research findings, they also demonstrated some forms of energy at work!

Reminder: All of PYP 6 will be going on a trip to the Theatre to see Chiquita Bacana Wednesday Feb 15!

What is Energy?

Hello PYP 6 Community!!

We are off to a great start to Unit 4 and are looking forward to delving deeper into the topic of ENERGY! We have completed several 'tuning in' activities where we accessed students prior knowledge to facilitate new connections to ideas and concepts we will be investigating throughout the unit. Now we are 'finding out' new information related to energy. This week students read about the different ways that energy is a part of our lives and our world and then made skits to express that information.
