PYP6 Welcome Presentation

Bring your own devices

Speaking to parents there has been a lot of concern over bringing your own devices. It is requested from the school to bring laptops rather than i-pads. The reason for this is in terms of teaching cohesion it is more effective to instruct using devices of the same format.

May parents have asked what laptops we recommend. We do not require a large memory as we are able to save our work in cloud based applications. We need fairly processing and working memory (RAM) as children will be working from several pages at the same time.  As your child will be carrying the laptop to and from school it is also worth considering the weight. The below site gives some advice over choosing the right laptop for you child. Advice on what laptop to buy your child

If you have a laptop you are happy for your child to bring to school please remember to complete the parental consent form attached below.

The Daily Five

As you have have heard we have started a new reading scheme named the daily five. Below is an introductory letter to the reading scheme.

Unit of Inquiry

We have begun provocations into our new unit of inquiry by discussing and exploring different talents and abilities. If you as parents and guardians have an particular talents it would be useful to discuss what skills you need for such talents and how you have developed those skills.

Below is a link to examples some of the talents of exceptional children.

The lines of inquiry for unit one are the following.

  • Human physical and mental capabilities
  • How nervous, muscular and skeletal systems relate to human ability
  • How learning, practice and refinement can develop our diverse abilities.

Thank you for reading. The PYP6 team.
